Plug Tools is an app that can help you figure out which of your Pro Tools plug-ins are out of date.

FEATURES

 

  1. •  Scans your plug-ins folder and presents you with a listing of every plug-in it finds.  It can then automatically compare your plugs against reference list and mark them “up to date” or “out of date” accordingly.  Users can manually mark them as well.

 

  1. •  Stores reference plug-ins locally so machine doesn’t always have to be online.

 

  1. • Can display all plug-ins, out of date plug-ins, up to date plug-ins, or unmarked.

 

  1. • Can “activate” and “de-activate” plug-ins with a single mouse click.

 

  1. •  Can generate a user editable report to print or save as a pdf file.

 

  1. •  Can sync with the Finder labels - on startup, Plug Tools will color code plug-ins based on Finder labels.  If plug-ins are marked out of date or up to date, their Finder labels will be set to red or green respectively.  This allows Plug Tools to maintain persistence across multiple sessions.

 

  1. •  Companion website (emptymusic.com/software/plugtools/plugintable.php) where users can view, add, and edit plug-in information.  The more users that contribute information, the more reliable Plug Tools becomes.

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Plug Tools is compiled for both PPC and Intel machines running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and above.   It has not been tested on PPC machines though, so use at your own risk.

 

 

 

WHAT’S NEW IN THIS RELEASE

 

 

What’s new in version 1.5:

 

   • "Reveal in Finder" opens a Finder window with the currently selected plug-in

   • "Download Update" opens a browser window and loads the download url (Digi links are broken)

   • Added 3rd tab view so users can view both Digi compatibility pages and Plug Tools compatibility pages.

    • Users can filter reference plug-ins using new search field.

   • Fixed problem where compatibility page was not loading proper url.

   • User can edit reference plugins.  File stored locally.

   • User can "update" reference plugins from the net, replacing local plugs with those from server.

   • preference to "update" reference plugs on startup. 

   • If not internet enabled, will use local reference file instead of getting new.

   • updated server backend to MySQL rather than a plain HTML table.  Plugin page is now dynamically created.

   • (for now) users can add/edit/delete plugins on server via web interface.

   • Main window redesigned. Web page now shares a tab view with the reference plugins table.
